My second project last winter is now finished and has reach its owner! She has chosen the colors, but I have chosen the pattern on the quilt!
The pattern is called ”Storm At Sea” and all the blocks are sewn using the technique Paper Piecing. The pattern is drawn on paper and you follow the lines when you sew. When I had pieced all the blocks together I had to remove all the paper and that took a very long time to do:)
On the backing there are a lot of fabrics. One of them used to be a skirt my mother had and my mother was the grandmother to the new owner, so it felt right to put it there!
Lovely! Such bright, happy colours! You are brave, waiting to the end before taking out all the paper. I take out the paper as soon as I’ve finished each block, it makes it much less of a nasty job.

Thank you! I just had to wait to take out the paper because I had to check every block was alright 🙂

I love this quilt. I have never done paper piecing before. Looks like you have mastered the technique. I especially love that you used the material of your mother’s skirt in this project. Very sentimental and I love that 🙂

Thank you! Yes, I have done some PP before. It isn´t my favorite technique, but sometimes you just have to do it 🙂

A favorite pattern of mine. I made one for my older son for his 21st birthday, and he still has it at 51. =)
